I now have a better understanding of the foundations of the statistics covered in this module. Although I was familiar with the terms, I now feel more comfortable with discussing the topic! I think the accompanying course text and the support online has been great. I found the course text easy to follow and the in text examples are a good way to test understanding of what you learn as you work through the text.

Moreover, there are a lot of benefits of organic farming beside eating healthy. Organic farming contributes to providing healthy soils to be developed as well as to the people around. According to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements, “Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved.” Research has also shown that through organic farming, global greenhouse emissions will be reduced by forty percent in our atmosphere. This means that a better status in our climate is also very possible which will save us from calamities due to climate change. Although organic farming involves a lot of processes, researches above prove that organic farming must be more developed for the welfare not only of the environment, but most importantly to all mankind.

Organic farming comprises a range of approaches within thebroader sustainable agriculture spectrum. In its most developedform, ecologically sustainable agriculture (including organicfarming) is both a philosophy and a system of farming. It isbased on a set of values that reflects an awareness of bothecological and social realities, and on a level of empowermentthat is sufficient to generate responsible action. Efforts toensure short-term viability are tested against long-termenvironmental sustainability, and attention to the uniqueness ofevery operation is considered in relation to ecological andhumanistic imperatives, with an awareness of both local andglobal implications. It emphasizes benign designs and managementprocedures that work with natural processes and cycles toconserve all resources (including beneficial soil organisms andnatural pest controls), and minimize waste and environmentaldamage, prevent problems, and promote agroecosystem resilience,self-regulation, evolution, and sustained production for thenourishment and optimal development of all (including ruralcommunities both here and abroad). Special attention is paid tothe relationships between soil conditions, food quality andlivestock health; and livestock is cared for in the most humaneway possible. In addition, organic farmers tend to avoid the useof synthetically compounded fertilizers, pesticides, growthregulators, and livestock feed additives. Instead, they rely uponcrop rotations, crop residues, animal manures, legumes, greenmanures, off-farm organic wastes, mechanical cultivation, andmineral-bearing rocks to maintain soil fertility andproductivity. Insects, weeds and other pests are managed by meansof natural, cultural and biological controls. The potential ofthis approach, however, goes far beyond its present expression, which has largely been limited to the substitution ofenvironmentally benign products and practices. As this new visionof what is ecologically responsible becomes established, significant development can be expected in the science and art ofagroecosystem design and management.

In order to succeed and climb to the top, at some point, one must eventually specialize in a specific sector or industry after having enough product knowledge. Our industry specific modeling courses focus on unique industries in which generic terminology either doesn't apply or needs to be more detailed, including sectors such as banks, insurance, real estate, oil & gas and other industries.

In conjunction with the powerful 'Resampling add-in for Excel' software, resampling methodology seems to be a novel and versatile tool that I expect to frequently use as an adjunct to the more formal established methods of data analysis.

Dead and alive plants wastes that accumulate on the surface of the soil are beneficial to prevent soil erosion. Yet on large-scale industrial farms this covering is being removed as a source for fuel to burn. And therefore erosion is increasing at an accelerate rate" (Pimentel, 1995). Erosion by water and wind adversely affect soil quality and productivity by reducing infiltration rates, water-holding capacity, nutrients, organic matter, soil biota, and soil depth" all of which affect agricultural productivity. And hence we have a problem.

Soil erosion dramatically increases on a sloping surface due to water washing down and sweeing away at the soil. And because of modern agricultural practices, sloping surfaces for farming are becoming increasingly popular. The slopes are being converted from forests to agricultural land due to the rapidly increasing demand for food as a result of the ever-increasing human population. For example, to show the severity of sloped surfaces on soil erosion, "in Nigeria, cassava fields on steep slopes lost 221 tons per hectare per year" whereas cassava fields on flat land showed "an annual loss of 3 tons per hectare per year" (Pimentel, 1995). That is a dramatic difference.

Our Financial Accounting Intensive Bootcamp is specifically built as a pre-requisite for our finance, valuation, financial modeling and more complex course topics. The bootcamp is structured as an interactive discussion in which we cover definitions and terminology thru examples and case studies. Oftentimes, learning and teaching accounting is associated with boring definitions; however, our approach is to tell a story, illustrate what the numbers mean through interesting examples, not by reading slides or textbooks. We stress learning through application, practice and repetition not memorization. We emphasize, hone and re-hone concepts via one large integrated case study in which the focus is not on debits/credits and t-accounts, but rather financial analysis. This is geared towards those with little to no accounting background (e.g., liberal arts majors) and is perfect as a refresher of the most important concepts for those having previously taken "Accounting 101" courses.
